Basketball Start Jalen Rose Shows How to ‘Take Care’
From the Fab Five to the Three Rs — Stephen Moore, Wall Street Journal
Jalen Rose, former University of Michigan and NBA basketball star, and current commentator on ESPN, has returned to Detroit to promote school reform and public choice. He is building a charter school called “The Leadership Academy.”
The protection of failed, inner city public school systems is a shameful political betrayal by the Democratic Party of its most loyal constituents. Rose is demonstrating how voluntary organizations can provide better solutions than government, and by so doing, reducing the power of government to destroy the prospects of millions of minority children who are trapped in our public inner city schools. By “taking care,” he has increased the liberty of his community. For this, he deserves our admiration and respect.
